A Note from the Staff at Maywood …

“It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.”   ~Ernest Hemingway

All of us at Maywood are very excited about the 9th Annual Maywood Earth Ride. Each year the ride grows in the number of riders and in the funds raised to support Maywood. We hope that this year is no exception.

The routes on this bicycle tour showcase some of Sheboygan County’s most beautiful and memorable areas. The 100-mile Century and the 65-mile Metric Century pass through beautiful stretches of the Kettle Moraine State Forest. The 50-mile and 25-mile routes provide views of rolling hills, farmland, and forests. The 12-mile route provides a few rolling hills and some fun-filled rest stops. Hills are a part of the Sheboygan area. We hope as you “sweat up the hills” you think of the wonderful coast down the other side and all the fun post-ride activities you will enjoy at Maywood.

We owe a debt of gratitude to our sponsors and volunteers. It is their generosity that makes this ride possible. We are very grateful to our Event Sponsor, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans for both their financial support and for the multitude of volunteer hours worked by their member families. Another big thank you is also due to the many riders who opt to collect pledges. Through your efforts, the Earth Ride has become the top fundraiser for Maywood.

For our out-of-town guests, Maywood offers camping the night before the ride. We hope you consider taking advantage of this affordable lodging option.

We are glad you can join us. Enjoy the 9th Annual Maywood Earth Ride!
